ART DECO face
The dial represents the pinnacle of fashionable Art Deco design, which was so popular at the time when Douglas aircraft began to take to the skies.
The surface finish of the dial depicts the sun's rays, which together with clouds made of genuine mother-of-pearl create a delicate, mysterious yet sophisticated whole.
The most striking element of the dial is a finely guilloched disk with the phases of the moon, framed by clouds, from behind which the moon slowly emerges and sets again, just like in the sky.
