Description
In the 1930s, craft was considered an art form. Minimalist design combined curved lines and streamlined shapes, often set in highly polished metals. Design was equal parts form and function in the Art Deco era.
The AVIATOR Douglas DC-3 was no different. Crafted from premium materials, its sophisticated style became the model for Douglas design. We took inspiration from this legendary aircraft and incorporated classic Art Deco design for a truly vintage look and feel that transports you to a time when innovation and design were exceptionally premium.
Designed in ART DECO style
Its sophisticated Art Deco style, designed with intense sunbursts combined with a recessed bezel and subtle concentric circles, is undeniably timeless. With visibility and legibility being key attributes, the Douglas collection combines design and function – from the luminescent indicators on each hour to the clean minimalist design.
Polished to perfection
The case is composed of three symmetrical parts: bezel, case body, back cover. Hand-finished with fine watchmaking techniques, its rounded curves are inspired by the elegant sophistication of the Douglas aircraft fuselage. Its stunning, mirror-polished surfaces are enhanced by ergonomically smooth lines. And the curved lugs present the elegance of yesteryear while ensuring a proper fit on any wrist.
Industrial design
The case back, which incorporates the Douglas DC-3 cockpit rudder in its design, mimics the functionality that calculates rudder angles and controls the position of the nose and tail of the aircraft. This function is covered with a crystal that protects against scratches and impacts, in addition to providing a comfortable fit on the wrist. Precise details reflecting the aviation tradition and fine watchmaking techniques such as these are an integral part of all AVIATOR Douglas watches.
