In the 1930s, craft work was considered more of an art form.
Minimalist design combined streamlined shapes and curved lines, often set in highly polished metals. Design was equal parts form and function in the Art Deco era.
The AVIATOR Douglas Day Date watch was no exception. Crafted from premium materials, its sophisticated style became the template for the Douglas Day Date design. We took inspiration from this legendary aircraft and incorporated classic Art Deco design for a truly vintage look and feel – one that transports you to a time when innovation and design were exceptionally premium.
Designed in ART DECO style
The AVIATOR Douglas Day Date features an intense sunray finish, an elegantly curved day indicator and a trapezoidal calendar window. With visibility and legibility being key features, the Douglas Day Date collection combines Art Deco design with function – from the polished metal indexes to the decorative, subtle cockpit-inspired accents on the hands, this watch is undeniably timeless in its sophistication.
Polished to perfection
The case is composed of three symmetrical parts: bezel, case body, case back. Hand-finished with fine watchmaking techniques, its rounded curves are inspired by the elegant sophistication of the Douglas aircraft fuselage. Its stunning, mirror-polished surfaces are enhanced by ergonomically smooth lines. And the curved lugs exemplify the elegance of yesteryear while ensuring a proper fit on any wrist.
Industrial design
The case back, which incorporates the Douglas DC-3 cockpit rudder in its design, mimics the functionality that calculates rudder angles and controls the position of the nose and tail of the aircraft. This function is covered with a crystal that protects against scratches and impacts, in addition to providing a comfortable fit on the wrist. Precise details reflecting the aviation tradition and fine watchmaking techniques such as these are an integral part of all AVIATOR Douglas watches.
