Description
Dedicated to Mexican artist Frida Kahlo.
Mexico at the beginning of the 20th century – a time of revolution that affected not only the state but also art. Diego Rivera, José Clemente Orozco, David Siqueiros and Frida Kahlo revolutionized Mexican art with their independent, avant-garde and, for that time, extremely colorful approach to painting. All of them became world-famous artists.
In 2017, during his trip to Mexico, Mr. Shorokhov visited museums and places where these artists lived and worked. He was captivated by the power of their paintings, the brilliance of their colors, their originality and creativity, as well as their unmistakable national character. He was particularly struck by Frida Kahlo, who lived a spectacular yet dramatic life full of pain and passion. In 2018, Alexander Shorokhov dedicated his new watch “Los Craneos” to her.

Two elements serve as the main motif of this watch: skulls and the tapered metal applications on the dial. Both elements represent Frida Kahlo's fight against death. Moreover, skulls are deeply rooted in Mexican culture as a symbol of the gamble of life and death. The name of the model "Los Craneos" means "Skulls" in Spanish. The many pyramidal, tapered metal elements on the dial symbolize Frida Kahlo's painful corset.
“Los Craneos” is designed as a watch with two time zones. One time zone has a calendar, the other a central seconds hand. The case is made of solid stainless steel with brushed sides and a hand-polished high-gloss bezel. This watch model is limited to 47 pieces, which is exactly the number of years Frida Kahlo enchanted the world with her art.
