Description
The “Kandy” model was dedicated to the most famous Russian avant-garde artist, Wassily Kandinsky. He was distinguished by his exceptional visual intelligence and had an excellent sense of color and shape. He attributed deeper meanings and associations to colors – for example, he described blue as “soft” and “aromatic”, while yellow was “sharp” and “pungent”. He also assigned certain colors to certain shapes: he imagined red as a square.
These shapes and colors are also used by A. Shorokhov in his latest work. The dials are square and at the same time three-dimensionally guilloched. On the back of the case are four round crystals in red, blue and yellow, which represent the most important colors in avant-garde art.
A modern, square shaped case was chosen for the model. The corners are rounded and the sides milled so that high-quality Italian lacquer can be applied to the resulting cutouts by heating. To ensure that the lacquer can be applied evenly around the case, the middle part is made without legs, which are welded to the bottom of the case.
