BABYLONIAN III
Fascination with millennia of history
"Babylonian III" is a fascinating watch with a thousand-year history and the third successor to a beautiful series. It is inspired by Babylon, the capital of Babylon, one of the most important cities of antiquity. Babylonian astronomy dates back to 3000 BC and reached its peak around 600–500 BC. People were able to obtain incredibly accurate astronomical data using the means at their disposal. The constellations as we know them today were summarized and described in ancient Babylonian culture.
Now, on the occasion of its 30th anniversary, a new model is celebrating its return. Unlike its two predecessors, this model is being launched in a larger case with a diameter of 43.5 mm, responding to high demand.
The mechanism is newly engraved and improved. The bridge of the front cover is skeletonized, hand-engraved and rhodium-plated. The plate and the other bridges of the mechanism are hand-matted with a special chisel and then gilded with yellow gold. On the back of the mechanism, another plate is added, which is decorated with beautiful skeletonization and also rhodium-plated. The two-tone finish of the mechanism creates contrasts and a noble appearance.
The dial consists of two parts. The lower part features elaborate zodiac signs, which are first etched and then hand-engraved. The outer part of the zodiac signs is hand-matted with a chisel. The upper part of the dial, which consists of two mother-of-pearl rings and hour applications, features a minute scale on the outer ring and the abbreviations of the zodiac signs on the inner ring.
